PS4, Xbox One, and Switch Hogwarts Legacy Delayed
The next Harry Potter video game, Hogwarts Legacy, will come out on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch separately from the other versions. The PS5, Xbox Series X&S, and PC versions of the game will be released on February 10, 2023, but the PS4 and Xbox One versions will follow two months later.
This new delay for Hogwarts Legacy differs from previous ones in that it only affects the previous-gen versions of the game. The next-gen launch is still on schedule, but the PS4 and Xbox One versions have been delayed until April 4 to coincide with the release of Dead Island 2. The release date for the Switch edition is set for July 25, 2023.
In order to give gamers the best possible experience on all platforms, we stagger our releases. Customers who spring for the more expensive PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC version can start playing on February 7.
At the same time that delays were announced for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch versions, developer WB Games Avalanche announced that those versions had reached the “gold” stage.
It’s safe to say that we need a little more time to get the previous generation versions ready for February. It makes sense to revert if the current build of the game needs more time to be tweaked, especially since the lag is unaffected on newer consoles.
Hogwarts Legacy’s initial 2021 release date was pushed back to 2022, and then again to 2023, so fans have had to wait a long time. People had previously voiced complaints about the game’s animations and character movements, so on the 14th, the developers decided to address those issues head-on.
A developer-led presentation is scheduled for December. The presentation could explain the delay and provide a sneak peek at the finished product.
